Precision Is Redefined - The New Magnetic Rotary Encoders Impress with Highest Measurement Accuracies

Magnetic encoder technology by Pepperl+Fuchs - Magnetic Precision. Under any Condition.

Rotary encoders are the perfect solution for measuring the rotation, angular speed, or position of moving parts in a wide range of applications. The new generation of magnetic rotary encoders, which operate on the basis of an extremely effective magnetic detection principle, are ideal for use anywhere where measurement accuracy, small size, or durability in harsh ambient conditions is required.

Advantages of the new magnetic rotary encoders

  • Precision
With this new generation of magnetic absolute rotary encoders, measurement accuracies of 1° to 0.1° will be achieved. High resolutions of up to 16 Bit singleturn and a multiturn resolution of up to 39 Bit are possible.
  • Robustness
The major advantage of the magnetic functional principle is that it uses a non-contact sensing system and there are no mechanical gears. This makes the magnetic encoders wear- and maintenance-free and ensures a long service life even under the harshest conditions.
  • Reliability
An additional Wiegand wire converts the singleturn rotary encoders into multiturn absolute rotary encoders. Due to the Wiegand effect, energy is always available and there is no data loss during voltage failures.
  • Compact housings
Based on the magnetic detection principle, a two-axis Hall sensor generates a sine or cosine signal via a rotating magnetic field. This enables compact absolute rotary encoders to be produced with an external diameter of just 36 mm.
